WHEN an alert came into the National Police concerning an attempted robbery with violence which involved a man with a revolver in San Pedro Alcantara, two officers were dispatched.

When they arrived they discovered a man dressed in a black balaclava and waving what appeared to be a revolver emerge from a Salon de Juegos (gaming room) in the town.

As they challenged him, he shouted at them and then tried to run away but the officers brought him down and arrested him.

It was then resolved that he was a 23-year-old Swede who had allegedly entered the business, threatening staff so that they would open the safe and give him the money contained inside but for one reason or another they were unable to do so.

When arrested, officers discovered that the gun was a replica and was not capable of firing live rounds.
