TEULADA-MORAIRA’S fiestas in honour of Santa Catalina start today, Thursday November 22. The celebrations begin at 1.30pm with the Entrada de la Murta procession through Teulada’s streets. At 9.30pm there will be a popular dinner costing €12 a head with beer courtesy of Bodegas Blasco and Servisal. Reservations should be made beforehand at the Casal, the Fiestas Committee’s headquarters. Saturday 23 November begins with the customary Despertada (wake up call) at 8.30am, with a children’s parade at 10am followed by drinking chocolate and buns for those taking part, courtesy of Panaderia Cristina. The morning continues with children’s games in Plaza de la Constitucion at 11am. Anis will given out at 12 noon, with a giant paella for all comers at 2pm with live music from the Platino band at 4.30pm, followed by two DJs. Sunday begins with another Despertada and an 11.30am procession by the Fiestas Committee to the Santa Catalina church, accompanied by the Agrupacion Musical Cultural band. Sung Mass with the Coral Teuladina at 12 noon will be followed by a Mascleta fireworks display. The Fiestas Committee assembles at 5.30pm in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento before, accompanied by the Agrupacion Musical Cultural and the Colla Falço bands, they walk to the church for the procession in honour of Santa Catalina, followed by fireworks at 7.30pm.
