Vera & District Lions got preparation for Christmas off to an excellent start with the successful re-launch of the club’s charity sales store earlier this month.
Club President Sheena Selkirk did the honours of cutting the ribbon on the premises located just off the A7 motorway at the Los Gallardos junction following a restocking by a dedicated team of volunteers.
What was a very successful morning resulted in raising €650, which will go towards helping those in need who the club assists.
The next sale will be next Saturday November 23 between 10am and 1pm. The sales will now continue on every second Saturday morning after that.
The next big Lions-run event will be a Christmas fayre on Sunday December 1 between 10am and 4pm at El Jardin (formerly The Coliseum) just outside Los Gallardos on the Bedar road.
There will be up to 30 varied stalls, including Father Christmas and entertainers for the children. Live festive music will be provided by the Sue Moretta Choir, Kay Frances, Jack Law, Marilyn Shipley, Clive Sarstedt, Derek Turner and Herbie Armstrong.
Admission is €1 for adults, with a special €5 “Passport for Fun” for children.
Jack Law’s Jinglebell Ball on Saturday December 14 will see all the proceeds go to the Vera & District Lions. The evening will get going at 7.30pm at the Irish Rover in Mojacar Playa, with entertainment from Jack himself, Kay Frances, The Altoonas, The Allskas and Melanie Howard Coles.
For more information on any of the events or on joining the Vera & District Lions and having fun while helping the local community, contact the group via the Facebook page.
They meet at 6pm on the first Wednesday of the month at the Terraza Carmona in Vera.
