THE World Cube Association based in America gave its support to the II International Rubik’s Cube Championship ‘Fuengirola Cubea’ which took last Saturday and Sunday.

Some 70 ‘brainboxes’ from across Spain and Europe (with one from the USA) arrived to take part in 11 different categories which included one handed, blind, 5x5x5 cube, magaminx and pyraminx.

The Saturday competition ran from 9am until 8.30pm with a lunch break and then on Sunday from 9am until 3pm.

Prizes were awarded for the top three in each category and local youngsters were encouraged to visit in order to watch experts at work and to learn the secrets of how to become a Rubik’s Cube champion.

At the same time, the Red Bull Rubik’s Cube World Cup took place in Moscow, proving that this isn’t just an annoying toy but a lasting international brand.
