Celebrating the arrival of the first Gypsys to Andalucia in 1462 Credit: Ayuntamiento de Marbella
ON Friday, November 22, San Pedro Alcantara, a suburb of Marbella, will celebrate the Day of the Andalusian Gypsy People with a series of events that will take place from 7 pm, at the Trapiche Cultural Center of Guadaiza.
The event will start by the raising of the flag of the Gypsy People and the playing of their traditional anthem Gelem Gelem followed by the presentation of a special plaque to Encarna Carmonawho has played an important part in the Gypsy community for many years.
Finally there will be a performance by Juanjo Alcántara’s flamenco group and a special Queen of the event will be announced.
