Chinese shop robbery in Marbella on the Costa del Sol

Storekeeper was hit over head with helmet

NATIONAL Police officers have arrested a 45-year-old Spaniard in Marbella (Malaga) as allegedly responsible for a crime of robbery with violence.  

The events that led to the investigation took place, at around 10.30 pm on November 3 in a grocery store run by a Chinese citizen on the Costa del Sol.

Two individuals people dressed in black, with masks and wearing a motorcycle helmet entered the shop. One of them hit the shopkeeper with the helmet the attacker had been wearing, before snatching €500 from the till. 

Police enquiries led the investigators to a 45-year-old local resident as the main suspect in the assault. During a search of the man’s home a motorcycle helmet matching the characteristics of the one used in the robbery was found and the man was arrested. Police said in a statement to the Euro Weekly News that they are trying to identify the second man involved.
