FIVE members of  Proteccion Civil in Alfaz received Merit Medals from the Ministry of the Interior.

Alfaz’s mayor Vicente Arques presented Jose Rivas, Jochen Ditsch, Maria Perez, Paco Such and Lorenzo Garcia with their awards for 15 years’ service with the group.

Arques thanked them for their generous commitment and encouraged them to go on working for the general good.

At present, Proteccion Civil in Alfaz has 18 volunteers who are on hand to help or take preventative measures in all kinds of emergencies.

They work closely with the town hall’s Public Safety councillor Toni Such, who stressed the important role of the local volunteers whom he described as “altruistic professionals.”

Alfaz’s Proteccion Civil opens their doors to all those willing to collaborate and, more importantly, help others while receiving nothing in return.
