This year’s comedy triumph Ben Hur at the Salon Varietes

BEN HUR: Two of the epic cast of four Credit: Salon Varietes

JUST four actors take on the might of the Roman Empire in the spectacular comedy Ben Hur which starts this Friday night at the Salon Varietes and runs for five shows.

Many will remember the hilarious version of the Thirty Nine Steps which brought the house down three years ago and the same team (writer Patrick Barlow and director Owain Griffiths) has put this comedy spectacle together.

Melissa Carver, Anthony Fitzpatrick, John Gale and Keith Spìtalnick appear as an amateur theatre troupe of four tasked with tackling the massive tale of the fictional Jewish prince and merchant Judah Ben-Hur.

The story is loosely based on the story by Lew Wallace and manages to include a chariot race, a sea battle (with real water) and stage combat during which the fictional cast fall out and also some find romance.
