MEGHAN MARKLE’S coat is at the centre of controversy after Stella McCartney used the duchess’s choice of outfit for Remembrance Sunday to plug her design.

The Duchess of Sussex looked stunning and elegant in a belted black coat paired with a broad brimmed hat for her appearance on the balcony overlooking the cenotaph in Whitehall for a Remembrance Sunday ceremony.

Just a few hours later the world-renowned fashion designer posted the photo on Instagram with the caption: “So honoured to have HRH Duchess of Sussex in our Autumn ‘19 coat at Remembrance Day service.⁣ x Stella⁣ #RemembranceDay.”

The inappropriate move to advertise her merchandise has been slammed as “tacky” with many Instagram users urging Stella to remove her post saying she was advertising her merchandise in a “shameful” way.

The backlash continued with a string of comments to the 48-year-old millionaire

One person criticised her, saying: “Seriously tacky post on the back of a dignified occasion; really not appropriate.”

Another questioned: “Stella, don’t you think it’s disrespectful plugging your fashion wear on Meghan when she was paying respect to our fallen soldiers?”

An array of negative comments continued: “Good taste in clothing, poor taste to advertise on Remembrance Day.”

There were even suggestions that people should boycott the brand as it seemed Stella was “tone deaf” to the huge significance the day holds.
