Field Marshall Lord Bramall, former head of the British Army and Normandy veteran who fought on D-Day, has died aged 95.
The highly-decorated veteran passed away this afternoon at his home in Crondall, near Farnham in Hampshire.
He took part in almost every major UK military campaign from WW2 until retirement in 1985.
He and his wife Dorothy, who married in 1949, lived at Bulford Manor in Wiltshire during his time as head of the army.
Lady Bramall, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, passed away in July 2015.
