A HISTORICAL bookstore in Palma will close its doors after more than 40 years in business. The MM bookshop on Reina Esclaramunda street is considered to be one of the oldest in the capital, known well for its sale of school books to children in the neighbourhood. Its owner, Jaume Ramis, decided to close down the store after a heavy fall in sales which he attributes to the internet which “has favoured a compulsive way of buying that we are not able to compete with”. In its last few days of being open, Ramis has put all books, stationery and office supplies on sale with discounts of up to 50%.
