ANNIVERSARY: Norwegian and Spanish guests exchange flowers Photo credit: Alfaz town hall
The Frivilligsentralen Costa Blanca Nord volunteer group celebrated its 10th anniversary in Alfaz this week. All local Norwegian institutions attended the event at Albir’s Sun Palace Hotel, as well as Alfaz’s local authorities, headed by the mayor Vicente Arques and councillors Mayte Garcia, Martine Mertens and Marisa Cortes. Frivilligsentralen Costa Blanca Nord, which is the only voluntary group supported by the Norwegian government outside Norway, was created in August 2009 by LivAirin Fragaat, Merete Ihlen Marandi and Asbjron Jensen. They were originally located on the Alfaz del Sol urbanisation, later moving to Avenida del Pais Valencia and finally, with the collaboration of Alfaz town hall, to its present premises in Calle Ferreria, adjoining the Justice of the Peace’s office. The association is totally integrated in the municipality and has 40 volunteers who cooperate closely with the Alfaz town hall in numerous projects, especially those of a social nature.
