Dog left to die in Malaga

LOCAL Police are investigating a 55-year-old-man for allegedly abandoning a dog that ended up dying.

The GRUPRONA animal welfare and nature unit of the police was called when the very ill animal was seen on a plot of land in the Ciudad Jardin area of Malaga city.

There was also a henhouse with four chickens, kennels, and a dozen feral cats wandering freely around. Conditions were filthy with a large infestation of fleas, dog excrement and a large quantity of decomposing bread.

Health specialists had to be brought in to disinfect the entire site. The dog was extremely thin and ill, and eventually died due, police say, to a lack of care.

Police identified the owner, who lived in one of the surrounding houses, and have charged him with animal abandonment, not ensuring it had veterinary treatment and failing to provide it with sanitary conditions.
