AS part of a provincial regeneration investment, Velez Malaga will receive a percentage of a €4.5 million purse to repair damage in the September storms.
The territorial delegate of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, Fernando Fernandez Tapia-Ruano held a meeting at the headquarters of the Subdirectorate General of the Andalusian Mediterranean Basin with contracted companies on Monday to discuss the next steps in the repair works to take place over the next few weeks.
Velez Malaga is part of 11 other municipalities which will receive part of the €4.5 million across the Malaga province.
The work will involve the emergency repairs of the regions rivers and streams in the municipalities of Cártama, Alhaurín de la Torre, Alhaurín el Grande, Coín, Archidona, Villanueva del Rosario, Villanueva del Trabuco, Málaga, Vélez Málaga, Antequera and Villanueva de la Concepción.
The clearing will aim to remove waste material and debris from the Public Hydraulic Domain, as well as the reparation of the regions riverbanks, the preservation of the riverbeds’ ecosystems and the reinforcement of the storm water defence systems.
