PLAYA DE PALMA: A man has been arrested for stealing backpacks on the beach.
AGENTS from the National Police agents have arrested a known criminal as the alleged perpetrator of the theft of a tourist’s backpack on Playa de Palma. The events occurred last week when a tourist was sunbathing, using his rucksack as a pillow to prevent it from being stolen. The thief pushed the victim retrieving the bag, running away with it. The man was chased by the victim and several other people but managed to escape after threatening them with a 15 cm blade. The following day, the same man targeted another tourist in the same area, taking advantage of the fact that they were swimming in the sea. His attempt failed, with officers from the National Police finally arresting the man. The alleged perpetrator is known to police officers and has a long history of arrests for crimes that include drug trafficking, domestic abuse, sexual assault and robberies with force.
