TRAVEL MARKET: World’s most important tourism fair Photo credit: Calpe town all
CALPE’S Tourism department recently attended the World Travel Market in London, regarded as globally the most important tourism trade fair. The local delegation went with the objective of maintaining Calpe’s high profile on the British tourism market as Britons, together with the Germans, remain Calpe’s principal international clients. As Brexit looms, the town hall’s Tourist department intends to intensify its efforts to ensure that there is no reduction in British tourism. The department’s representatives were in direct contact with British travel agencies and tour operators at the World Travel Market, paying particular attention to those that include Calpe in their cycling tourism brochures. Although the 2019 tourist season could still be regarded as satisfactory, maintaining levels of demand despite the “turbulent environment” of Brexit and the collapse of Thomas Cook, the Tourism department was aware of the need “to redouble efforts” to promote Calpe in its traditional market, municipal sources said.
