THE DERBY defender was under contract until the end of next season, on a salary of about £25,000 a week, but it has now been terminated.

The decision comes weeks following a car crash provoked by drunk driving where Keogh, 34, found himself in the back seat of fellow teammate Tom Lawrence’s car when it crashed into a lamp post on September 24.

Keogh suffered serious knee injuries that are likely to keep him on the sidelines for more than a year.

Derby County initially told captain Richard Keogh to accept a massive pay reduction. However, Keogh has chosen not to accept the new terms in order to stay in the Championships rather pursue his right to appeal against the decisión.
