Better-equipped for forest fires

CALLOSA and Torremanzanas are both renewing their firefighting vehicles for use in forest fires.
The regional government’s Safety and Emergency Response Agency recently distributed eight new vehicles to forest firefighting units in the provinces of Alicante, Valencia and Castellon.
Acquired from the Hacienda Ministry’s centralised catalogue and costing €32,670 each, they are capable of carrying five people and a 1,000-kilo load.
This will be invaluable in getting appliances to the scene of the forest fires that are a constant threat in all three provinces, a Generalitat statement said.
The fleets used by the region’s forest firefighting units are gradually being renewed and in coming months they will receive eight new fire engines.
