MURCIA’S regional council is to start to profit from Corvera airport earlier than planned.

Now that the airport – run by AENA- has surpassed the million passengers handled figure it will start paying the regional government 84 cents per passenger.

The first payment to be made by Aena will exceed €840,000 once the figures of November and December are added in.

The regional government is trying to recover part of the loan of €182 million it had to assume as guarantor of the former concessionaire, Aeromur, which withdrew, claiming breach of contract.
