THE centre of Almoradi was taken over by bicycles on Sunday for the town’s annual ‘Fiesta de la Bicicleta’.
Hundreds of people of all ages took part in the 13th edition of the event. Each participant paid €2 to enter, with the money going to victims of the September storms.
Starting point for the nearly 10 kilometre route was the Plaza de la Constitucion, with participants wearing blue t-shirt in solidarity with the storm victims.
After reaching Almoradí Ciudad de Servicios square, the bicycle route was completed and prizes were awarded for the best costume, the best decorated bicycle, and the youngest and oldest participants to complete the ride.
Th event was organised by the Almoradi Cycling Club with the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Alicante, Civil Protection and Local Police, in addition to having the support of sponsors.
Councillor for Sports Alfonso Garcia thanked everyone for attending, saying nearly 700 people took part.
