THE 2019-2020 Influenza Vaccination Campaign started on Monday throughout Axarquia.

The Ministry of Health and Families launched the campaign to protect the population that are most at risk throughout the winter months such as the elderly and the young.

The campaign will last until March next year and will aim to raise awareness and vaccinate the most vulnerable groups, people aged 65 or over, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases from 6 months of age and health workers and belonging to essential professions such as State Security Forces and Corps, fire fighters etc.

Minister of Health and Families, Jesus Aguirre launched the initiative last week at a meeting with the Andalusian Influenza Vaccination Group (GAVAG).

“The objective of the Ministry for this campaign is to increase coverage of the main risk groups with the launch of a strong campaign to raise awareness among the population on the importance of strengthening immunity against this virus and in which we want health professionals to take a greater role in transferring these messages to the population.” Explained Aguirre.
