Rescuers in eastern India yesterday saved an elephant from drowning after it fell into a flooded pit.
Animal experts who worked together with nearly an entire village, came to the assistance of the distressed elephant after it had become separated from its herd and fell into the villages muddy well.
The elephant could be seen face down under the water struggling to keep itself afloat and breathing.
Eventually, it was tied to a rope while volunteers pulled the animal out of the well.
After two hours of attempts, the elephant was finally pulled out with the villagers cheering as the rescuers move away from the elephant.
The elephant, was soon thankfully on her way back to her herd after the rescue!
