The Luxury Outlet Of Plaza Mayor Is Now Expected To Open In December

Plaza Mayor Luxury Outlet Announces New Opening Date

IT HAS been announced today that the Plaza Mayor extension “will open in December” when the access road is built

The British-owned outlet village which had been due to open Oct 22, after two years of construction work, met recent issues in regards to the necessary licence to open.

The licence was not granted as the works to widen the access roads into the centre were not—and are still not—finished.

These works formed an essential condition for the city hall to grant the opening licence.

EWN alerted of the delay earlier this week.

The luxury outlet of Plaza Mayor, which had advertised discounts of up to 70% on luxury brand names, now hopes the official unveiling to take place in December.

The requested access improvement to the MA-20 are being made.

Improving access roads, which already become frequently congested, was a key condition of granting planning permission for the 100-store extension by UK developers McArthurGlen.

Work on widening the MA-20 motorway was halted recently in a legal dispute over who owned the land that was being expropriated. Now that the owner has withdrawn the complaint, road building work can continue, unfortunately, too late to meet the original opening schedule, but there is optimism that the outlet will be functional before Christmas.

Despite coverage of the cancelled launch, some shoppers did turn up in anticipation of being the first clients into the shopping village, only to find it cornered off.

“We’ve excitedly come all the way from Marbella, but we’re going to have to turn around,” one French family said.

McArthurGlen Designer Outlet will have a hundred stores and an area of 17,750 square meters

The new centre will provide 116 new job positions and is expected to become one of the most unique shopping destination in southern Spain.
