Illegal Tobacco Cartel “Smoked Out” By Cops!

Spanish Cops have arrested 18 people in connection with a widespread counterfeit tobacco operation.

Three tonnes of processed tobacco was discovered in dawn raids as cops smashed through front doors carried out in Jaén, Granada and Seville as part of a joint operation with the National Tax Agency.

Covert operations into the illegal gang began several months ago and the tobacco cartel is understood to have been supplying over 40-tonnes of illegal tobacco into the Spanish market.

Over 150 stakeouts have taken place as cops tracked the gang and it’s hugely profitable business as they flooded the market with untaxed and non-duty tobacco through networks across all of Spain, the cartel would even use children as distributors.

All the arrested face charges of tax evasion, possession of firearms and money laundering which will carry expected heavy sentences from the courts.
