Brit arrested in hash boat haul op in Almeria waters

A BRIT is one of four under arrest following the interception of a boat loaded with more than 3,000 kilos of hashish in Almeria waters.
The Almeria Guardia Civil Maritime Service caught up with the leisure craft as part of a European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) operation after it was pinpointed by an Icelandic aircraft.
The Guardia said the aircraft spotted the craft alongside an inflatable dinghy loaded with sackcloth bundles, 15 miles from the Alboran Sea.
The CECORVIGMAR Coasts and Frontiers Maritime Surveillance Centre alerted the Almeria Guardia, which immediately mobilised its boat the Rio Nacimiento. The patrol found the suspicious boat heading for the Almeria coast.
On board they discovered bundles containing large amounts of the drug. A thorough search of the boat once in was in Almeria port revealed there were 93 bundles stashed in the hold and cabins, adding up to a total weight of 3,100 kilos.
The Guardia identified the detainees as 58-year old J.C.C. from the UK, and three middle-aged Poles.
