“THE largest urban development project in the region” has been given the go ahead in Velez Malaga. The mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Antonio Moreno Ferrer and the first deputy mayor Jesús Pérez Atencia have announced the ‘Vélez River Delta’ plan which aims to regenerate a 2.1 million square metre plot in the town of Almayate. The plot has been provided as part of a Land Management Plan and will be home to both residential and tourist accommodation. The space available will be able to house over 1,200 homes with a percentage going towards public housing. There is also a plan to create a resort style hotel which will include 2,152 rooms and numerous other luxury facilities. The plot will be predominantly located in the Almayate area, but will cover both sides of the Velez River including areas in Torre del Mar. It will also include the construction of a marina and a jetty that makes it possible to directly access, with pleasure boats, a large part of the residential area. See more Axarquia News
