Star Guardia Civil search dog Marley dies of a heart attack

MARLEY, the Guardia Civil dog who played a key role in the investigation of cases including the killings of little Gabriel Cruz in Nijar and teenager Diana Quer in A Coruña, has died of a heart attack at the age of just three.

“When a dog dies you don’t lose a friend, you gain an angel at your side. When that dog is Marley, our star searching for body remains and helping to solve a multitude of crimes, it leaves a huge void in those who were lucky to work at his side”, the Guardia Civil posted on Twitter.

Water dog Marley was specially trained to detect biological remains at crime scenes, like blood and saliva. He was used in operations all over the country.

His last mission was to locate the body of Basque IT professional Jose Antonio Delgado, who the Guardia believe was the victim of an internet dating app scam.
