Recycle in pink. In Javea it is now possible to recycle glass and help to combat cancer at the same time. Two Ecovidrio recycling points painted pink – the colour of the fight against breast cancer – have been installed in Plaza Marina Alta in front of the Correos post office. They were located there thanks to the town hall’s Services department and the activist, Maria Ferrer, who has had cancer herself. The recycling points belong to the Recycle glass for them campaign which continues in Javea until the end of October. During this time the value of the glass that has been left in the pink containers will be transformed into a donation to the Fundacion Sandra Ibarra de Solidaridad Frente al Cancer foundation, which raises funds for the prevention of cancer and research into the disease. Services councillor Kika Mata and Maria Ferrer called on residents as well as the hotel and catering trade to support the campaign and raise as much cash as possible by recycling as much glass as they can in the pink containers.
