THE University of Malaga and the Velez Malaga local council have donated €7,500 to local associations.
The mayor of Velez-Malaga, Antonio Moreno Ferrer, accompanied by Juan Antonio Garcia Galindo, vice-rector of Institutional Policy of the UMA, and Diego J. Vera Jurado, director of the General Foundation of the UMA delivered three donations of around €2,500 each to local charities and organisations.
The recipients were Relatives of Alzheimer Patients of La Axarquía (AFADAX) to the Association for the Protection of the Mentally Handicapped of Velez-Malaga (ASPROVELEZ) and the Association of the Handicapped of Velez-Malaga (AMIVEL)
Mayor, Antonio Moreno Ferrer thanked the University of Malaga for its involvement and collaboration in the joint organization of many cultural and educational projects in the city as well as praising the work of the organisations that provide such a sterling service across the region.
“One of the objectives that we have from the City Council is to attract Velez-Malaga training projects that improve the employability of our residents and continue to establish Velez-Malaga as a City of Culture,” said the mayor.
The courses, that took place across the summer, reinforced the town as a hub of social affairs, culture, music and sport throughout Axarquia.
