Fugitive wanted for sex crime arrested in Alicante
A FUGITIVE who went on the run after being given a jail term for abusing a 14-year-old girl has been arrested in Alicante.
The man was wanted by Italian authorities after he disappeared in 2017 rather then turn himself in to serve his time.
An Italian court had jailed him for six years and eight months after hearing that he had used his position as the boyfriend of the victim’s mother to abuse the girl.
Italian police suspected he had fled to Spain and asked for help from Spanish police.
National Police officers eventually tracked him down to Alicante where he now lived, arresting him earlier this week.
The man is said by police to have previously served a total of 18 years for a series of crimes including aggravated sexual violence, sexual acts with minors, robbery, causing injuries, threats and falsification of means of payment.
