Expansion of the El Ingenio shopping centre gets the go ahead in Velez Malaga

THE Town Planning Commission of the Council of Velez-Malaga has approved plans this week to develop the El Ingenio shopping centre and increase its floor plan.

The plan is to redevelop the area near the service station, and the chimneys in the centre where the main façade is.

The aim in to modernise the facilities to incorporate new online sales and attract new firms, as well as consolidating relationships with existing retailers.

The legal portion of Grupo Sociedad Azucarera Larios started the administrative procedure to begin the works a year ago.

Since then, environmental assessments have been carried out under the guise of the General Urban Development Plan (PGOU).

The proposal described the new facilities that will cover 4,800 square metres, 10% of its current area, and works are aiming to be completed next year in time for the centres twentieth anniversary.
