MURCIA’S very own Blas Canto will be Spain’s representative at next years Eurovision Song Contest.
The news was revealed during a surprise report on Spanish televisions RTVE during their midday news.
The decision was made by an internal board of directors who picked 27 year old Blas out of a number of candidates to represent his country in the competition held next year on 12, 14 and 16 May in Holland.
Previously a member of the now disbanded Auryn, Ricote born Blas has five albums to his name, four with his previous boy band mates and one solo album named ‘Complicado’.
The band Auryn won the Best Spanish Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards and toured internationally.
Blas beat artists such as Ruth Lorenzo, Diana Navarro and David Bustamante to an internal RTVE vote to represent Spain in the competition that has previously seen Pastora Soler, El Sueño de Morfeo and Edurne take to the stage in the competition.
