FOUR suspected teenage thieves are under arrest for targeting a young victim in Roquetas de Mar.
The Guardia Civil said they detained the 16 to 19-year olds in connection with an incident in mid-June when around nine youngsters picked on another teenager.
According to the victim, the group surrounded him. As well as getting away with the money he had in his wallet, they took his mobile phone and an envelope containing €200 he had collected from friends to celebrate the San Juan fiestas.
The Guardia said Roquetas Local Police identified one of the suspects, and urged the victim, a minor, to report the crime.
A lengthy investigation based on the victim’s and witness statements ultimately led to the four arrests of the El Ejido teenagers, one of them under-age.
The Guardia said the investigation remained open with the expectation of identifying the other members of the group.
