FIVE families have been left homeless when the roof of an apartment block fell in.
Elche City Council engineers are surveying to find the cause of the collapse of 20 sqm of roof at the building in Calle José Romero Lopez.
Pending the completion of this report, which will include laboratory tests, the five families living in the building have been evacuated.
The building consists of ground floor, mezzanine and four floors and was built in 1967. No one was hurt in the incident.
The city council has housed one family and is looking for accommodation for the other four, who are staying with relatives in the meantime.
