A WARNING has gone out to beware fake water inspectors.
Hidralia, the company that manages the supply network in Estepona is alerting townspeople and residents further afield on the Costa del Sol, saying its workers do not enter people’s homes, either to repair leaks or make inspections.
But it has had reports of people wearing similar clothing approaching householders.
“These people try to access the interior of the house under the pretext of repairing a water leak and checking the pipes,” warned Hidralia in a statement.
It added that possible internal leaks are detected by the difference between meter readings. If there is higher than normal consumption the company notifies households via a letter.
The statement added that internal leaks are the responsibility of the owners, not Hidralia, which is why they do not enter the premises.
People should not let ‘water inspectors’ into their homes and should notify police, the statement concluded.
