Electric car runs down and seriously injures pedestrian in Madrid

A 46-YEAR old woman was seriously hurt when an electric car ran her down in Madrid on Wednesday morning.

The SAMUR-Civil Protection emergency service reported on Twitter the impact of the vehicle was so strong the woman suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest.

The team managed to revive her at the scene before rushing her to hospital, where she is being treated for a head and other injuries.

The accident occurred in an area with no traffic lights or pedestrian crossings, Spanish media reported.

The windscreen on what was reportedly a rental vehicle was completely shattered in the impact.

Madrid municipal police are investigating the cause of the accident in collaboration with the National Police force.
