WATCH: Stuck in a rut: Hapless horse hoisted to safety in Madrid

A HAPLESS horse which found itself firmly stuck in a narrow ditch after getting out of its enclosure in Mejorada del Campo in Madrid is safe and sound thanks to firefighters.

It wasn’t the easiest of rescues. The ditch was surrounded by dense undergrowth and the rescue team had to set up a hoist to heave the animal out of its predicament.

The horse was not at all happy to find itself up in the air. But with the help of its owner trying to keep it calm the team managed to safely lower it to the ground.

Although someone agitated and frightened the horse was uninjured, the 112 emergency services reported.
