Police chase after men dumped from van in Cadiz

A MASSIVE police operation was put into place when three men were thrown from a van on a Spanish road.

One of the men was killed and the other two seriously injured in the incident on the A-480 in Chipiona (Cadiz).

Police were alerted by a call from a citizen at 5pm yesterday (September 23) saying he had seen the men being dumped from the van and it was unknown whether the victims were alive or dead.

National Police alerted Guardia Civil who immediately started searching for the van and a car that was thought to be involved in the incident.

The suspect vehicles were spotted by an off-duty officer, who alerted his colleagues that they were driving at high speed towards Sevilla.

He gave chase and was able to follow the suspects, informing police patrols of their location.

The car was eventually intercepted by Sevilla-based Guardia Civil on the A-66 and four ‘foreign’ men arrested.

Initially the van got away, but Local Police in Sevilla spotted it and they managed to block the road.

The driver, carrying a ‘long weapon’, tried to flee on foot, but he came to a halt after officers fired a warning shot.

The operation involved 20 Guardia Civil patrols plus several teams from Sevilla’s Local and National Police.

Two of the men thrown from the van remain hospitalised in a serious condition. The five detained men are being questioned by Guardia Civil.
