GUARDIA Civil located 500 marijuana plants hidden among the ruins of an old mining exploitation in Las Herrerias in Cuevas del Almanzora.
Based on information from Local Police officers and on their own investigations and analysis, the Guardia had concluded there was evidence of illegal marijuana cultivation activities in the area.
A thorough search of caves and old mine operations led to the discovery of five small greenhouses and five illegal hook ups to the power supply in three rooms.
Officers also came across all sorts of machines and agricultural tools used to increase the marijuana plantation production.
The Guardia said the investigation remained opened and arrests have not been ruled out.
