Weather warnings continue into Friday for Alicante, Murcia and Almeria

WARNINGS for extreme weather remain in place for Alicante, Murcia and northern Almeria today Thursday and into Friday.

The AEMET State Meteorology Agency has issued maximum level red alerts for heavy and persistent storms, torrential downpours, high winds and a risk of flooding for the whole of Murcia region, the Alicante coast and the Levante, Los Velez and Almanzora Valley areas of Almeria.

There are orange alerts for rain and storms in Granada, Albacete, Valencia, Ibiza and Formentera. High seas are expected in Alicante and Valencia.

The weather is forecast to improve in the Mediterranean by the weekend, and by Sunday the sun should be back out in Alicante, Murcia and the Andalucia costas.

The rain is expected to move into the centre of the country.
