Swimmer drowns off Cala del Moral

A REPORT issued by the Local Police has confirmed the death of a woman in the water close to the shore in Cala del Moral at around 10.45am Friday 6 September.

A citizen alerted the 112 emergency services after the woman was spotted by fellow bathers floating in the water around five metres from the beach edge.

According to the report, the bathers managed to bring the woman back to the shore but were unable to resuscitate her.

Once officers from the Public Company of Sanitary Emergencies (EPES), the Policia Local and the Guardia Civil arrived at the scene, all they could do was to pronounce her passing.

An investigation is now underway by the Guardia Civil into the circumstances surrounding the death.
