Charlie Chaplin once said that a day without laughter is a day wasted. I suggest you read this again. Indeed. Not just try, but just do it every day. Make it your and others’ habit to laugh at least once a day.
And if you do not know (any more) how to do this, start with a little smile. Smile to yourself in the mirror. I know, sounds weird. But it will help you in the long term in many positive ways in your wonderful life.
Smile to others around you. Even people you do not know. It can happen that they are not used to it themselves any more so they will look back at you sometimes with a big question mark on their forehead. Do I know this person? What is he or she up to? Maybe you have to run away one time.
But let those things not stop you at all. Keep on practising the daily habit of smiling. Build it up and after a while move on to laughing. Yes, you can do this.
Even laughing with oneself can be very healing. I do not know if he wrote this… but on the internet it says that Shakespeare wrote that laughing at your own mistakes can lengthen your life.
Believe it or not but myself I am becoming an expert at laughing at and even with myself. For me it works.
And yes, I will keep on doing this and even when one day I would meet you I will introduce you, you will not even notice it I think, to the laughing method that will prolong your life.
When we laugh more, we will be much happier. No one I think will argue with this. I found on the internet the following:
Laughter benefits the body and soul in many ways like: increases immune system – is the best work out – is good for our lungs – increases serotonin and endorphins in our brains – relaxes muscles – eases tension in the body – reduces stress hormones in the body – improves the blood flow – eases feelings of depression – just makes you happy – etc.
I mean… do you need another reason to laugh?
Go now and spread the word of laughter. Make it your daily commitment to put laughter in your life and to put laughter in the life of the people you interact with each day. See and feel how all those lives will change for the better.
Drive in your car and start laughing out loud, specially at the traffic lights and crossroads. Let people see you laughing. Some of them will start laughing too! How wonderful is that. You can make someone happy (and yourself) without even speaking one word.
Make yourself happy in an easy way. Teach your brain what happiness is, what laughter does to your brain.
Some quotes about this wonderful tool: Life is better when you’re laughing – Laughter is an instant vacation – Life is too short to be serious all the time, so if you can’t laugh at yourself, call me, I’ll laugh at you – Laugh until your belly hurts and then just a bit more.
