POLICE in Elda (Costa Blanca) have arrested a man wanted by German authorities for his links to DAESH.
The 25-year-old Moroccan, identified by police only as E.M.A., is accused of false documentation, tax fraud and fraud.
In 2016, agents of the National Police began an investigation into the structure of the external apparatus of DAESH, which operated in Europe and whose main missions were to recruit new members for the organisation and plan attacks in Europe.
The terrorist cell planned to execute an attack with Kalashnikov assault rifles on December 1, 2016 in Paris, which did not occur thanks to police action.
During the course of this investigation, three people were identified as belonging to a support cell, which operated from Germany providing logistical support and false documentation to other terrorists.
In 2017 the German authorities carried out an operation in which two of the members of the group were arrested, although E.M.A managed to escape and fled Germany, hiding and moving clandestinely through several countries, until reaching Spain, where he went to ground.
Although he tried to keep a low profile, Spanish police finally tracked him down to Elda.
