A British teenager has stabbed his parents in Tenerife before jumping from a considerable height, according to reports. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in the heart of a popular tourist area in the town of Costa Adeje, which is in the south of the island. The family are British nationals who live on the island. All three family members are in hospital with considerable injuries. Police are describing the attack as very violent and have launched an investigation. However the investigators believe this is not a typical case of family violence and may be linked to mental health problems the teenager is thought to suffer. After the stabbing, the boy threw himself down a ravine, the equivalent of five storeys. In the area there are several rocky ravines, without barriers despite being in the centre of the tourist area. The suspected author is under police guard in hospital but has not yet been formally arrested.
