SALVAMENTO Maritimo rescued three youngsters struggling to swim back to shore after they leapt into the water from the Pilurico Tower near Macenas beach in Mojacar.
A Helimer 205 helicopter carried out the rescue and flew the three adolescents to Almeria airport, where an ambulance and the Guardia Civil were waiting for them, Salvamento Maritimo posted on social media.
A member of the public alerted the emergency services to the youngsters’ plight at about 1pm, Spanish press reported.
Guardia Civil, Civil Protection, Local Police and 061 health service personnel rushed to the scene, and maritime rescue mobilised the Salvamar Algenib rescue boat and the helicopter to pluck them out of the sea.
The three were taken to the Torrecardenas hospital in Almeria city as a precaution, but are all reportedly in a good state of health.
