Home and Away star found dead at his home aged 41

Ben Unwin, who played bad boy Jesse McGregor in the long running soap has been found dead at his home in Australia after friends became “concerned for his welfare”.

NSW Police confirmed his death last Tuesday but have yet to reveal the cause of his death.

Ben played Jesse McGregor in the Australian soap between 1996 and 2000, before returning in 2002.

After leaving the soap again in 2005 he completed a law degree and was working as a senior solicitor in Newcastle NSW.

Since the news broke of his death, tributes from friends and fellow cast members came flooding in across social media.

Kimberley Cooper, who played Gypsy Smith on the popular soap, told News.com.au she was ‘just so sad’ to hear of Ben’s passing.”

She said: ‘He was a gift to come to work with everyday and to be on the receiving end of his friendship was to know unwavering support, loyalty and love.’

‘I will be sad for now, but I promise to tell stories of great joy about our times together. You forever hold a special place in my heart. Love you, Onion.’ She continued.

Australian TV writer Dan Bennett tweeted: “Devastated to hear this news. Ben was an utterly lovely guy. I’m so sad he felt there was no other way for him, rest in peace mate.”
