German Shepherd puppies had been buried alive in Spain

SIX German Shepherd puppies that had been buried alive have been rescued by the Guardia Civil in Teruel (Aragon).

Acting on a tip off from a shocked neighbour officers of the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) of the Guardia Civil de Alcañiz investigated and uncovered the puppies.

Nearby, on the other side of a fence, they saw two adult dogs, one of which showed signs of recently having given birth.

At the sight of the puppies she became very agitated and showed signs of ‘euphoria’, proving to the Guardia they were her pups.

They passed the rescued puppies to her and she immediately started feeding them.

The investigations have resulted in two people being handed over to the courts as alleged perpetrators of a crime against flora, fauna and domestic animals.

The Guardia Civil has sent its thanks to the people who tipped them off, saying they saved the pups from certain death.
