Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard out of La Liga opener

THE LEAGUES title contenders’ season has taken an early blow as star signing Eden Hazard was ruled out of the season opener due to a thigh injury sustained in Friday’s training session.

A spokesman from Real Madrid confirmed last week that the record signing will miss the first game of the season against Celta Vigo with an injury to his anterior tendon in his left thigh, but did not state how long the Belgium would be out for.

28 year old Hazard joined Real Madrid in June for a club record of €100 million from Chelsea is a record breaking off season for the club who have spent more than €300 million on new recruits.

Real Madrid kicked off their new campaign three players down after fellow winger Marco Asensio was sidelined due to a serious knee injury and Dani Carvajal is suspended.

The depleted team however did not look to struggle against Vigo with a convincing away 3-1 victory.

Welshman Gareth Bale proved he was still a force to be reckoned with after a surprise call up from manager Zinedine Zidane.

Karim Benzema opened the scoring after 12 minutes, Toni Kroos landed a spectacular long range second and Lucas Vazquez sealed the victory in the 80th minute after a flawless team play.

Zidane’s team will now seek to increase their early advantage in the championship as they take on Real Valladolid.
