Man killed in latest Barcelona stabbing

A 47 year old man has died in a street brawl in Barcelona amongst the bloodiest month the city has seen.

The victim, who has not been named, was killed during a street fight at around 3am on Friday in the Nou Barris district of Barcelona.

The man was killed after he received numerous stab wounds during the altercation which took place on Calle Vilapicina. He was treated by the Servei d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) however he was reported dead shortly before arriving to hospital.

This was the second recorded incident on Friday night as a man was seriously injured in a robbery attempt at around 12pm on the intersection of Via Laietana with Sant Pere Més Baix. According to witnesses he was assaulted and stabbed by a number of men who attempted to steal his belongings.

The Mossos d’Esquadra have revealed that although they have suspicions on the perpetrators of both events, they have not made any arrests as of yet.

The latest bloody night in Barcelona has come after the City Council have admitted there is a “security crisis” currently ongoing in the city.
