In memory of Don Leeser

SADLY MISSED: Don Leeser. Credit: Age concern Marbella

Don Leeser, who sadly passed away on August 14, 2019, was one of the founder members on the committee of Age Concern Marbella and San Pedro.

Don had lived on the Costa del Sol for over 25 years. Following the death of his beloved partner Leslie in 2008 he came in contact with Age Concern and joined as a volunteer in 2009 in the San Pedro area group where for many years he headed up the AC Monday tea party at Sanyres residence later to become Orpea.

With his delightful manner and sense of humour he quickly became a very popular figure in Age Concern and made a tremendous contribution to the organisation.

Don was also an active member of the Classic Car Club and enjoyed driving his vintage Porsche and BMW on their many excursions around Southern Andalucia.

What many people may not know is he had an assistant volunteer called Annie. She was a regular visitor to Orpea Residence, for the more mature members of our community, which is based in Puerto Banus.

He would visit the residents with his volunteer partner Annie – a friendly dog who was loved by all the residents.

The old people would become animated at the sight of the dog and she in turn loved to speak to them all and receive cuddles from them while Don served tea along with other volunteers.

They have both now have died sadly, so they will be missed by all that knew them.
